| (1) Islaamic History | Islaam spreads in Madinah |
| The Aws and Khazraj tribes as well as several Jewish tribes occupied Madinah. Whenever the Aws and Khazraj tribes came up in conflict with any of the Jewish tribes, the Jews would threaten them by saying that as soon as the Nabi at the end of time arrived, they would join him and destroy them just as the nations of Aad and Iram were destroyed. Eleven years after his mission started, Rasulullaah (SAW) met six people from the Khazraj tribe in Makkah when they arrived for Hajj and presented the message of Islaam to them. Looking at each other, they wondered whether this was the Nabi (SAW) that the Jews had been referring to. “We had rather not waste the opportunity and allow them to beat us to him,” they said. They then all accepted Islaam. They then requested permission from Rasulullaah (SAW) to carry the message of Islaam to their city in order to stem the incessant battling that raged between them and their Jewish neighbours. They realised that since peace and brotherhood stood at the core of Islaam, it would be the elixir to cure them of their warring ways. Rasulullaah (SAW) permitted them and soon there was not a household in Madinah into which Islaam did not enter. | |
| (2) Rasulullaah (SAW)’s Miracle | Rasulullaah (SAW) is informed of the scheme of Safwaan and Umayr |
| Safwaan and Umayr were sitting by the Kabah discussing the casualties of the Battle of Badr when they hatched the plot to assassinate Rasulullaah (SAW). Umayr proceeded home to lace his sword with poison and soon left for Madinah under the pretext of negotiating the freedom of some prisoners of war. When he arrived before Rasulullaah (SAW), the Nabi of Allaah (SAW) asked him what he had come for. He stated his pretext, but Rasulullaah (SAW) proceeded to inform him of the details of the plot he and Safwaan had devised as they sat by the Kabah. When he heard this, Umayr was aghast and exclaimed, “I swear by Allaah that you are definitely the Rasul (Messenger) of Allaah because there was no third person present when Safwaan and I spoke.” He then duly declared the Shahaadah and entered the fold of Islaam. Rasulullaah (SAW) then set free the prisoner Umayr sought to ransom. | |
| (3) A Fardh | Imaan is a precondition for entry into Jannah |
| Rasulullaah (SAW) said, “When a person leaves this world in a condition that he believes in Allaah and in the Day of Qiyaamah, he will be told to enter Jannah through any one of its eight gates.” [Ahmad 98, from Hadhrat Umar (RA)] |

| (4) A Sunnah | Du’aa for an easy journey |
| The following Du’aa should be recited when commencing a journey:
اَللّٰهُمَّ أَطْوِ لَنَا الْأَرْضَ وَهَوِّنْ عَلَيْنَا السَّفْرَ TRANSLATION: O Allaah! Fold the earth for us and make the journey easy. |

| (5) An Important Act and its Virtue | Replying to the Adhaan |
| Someone once remarked to Rasulullaah (SAW) that the people who call out the Adhaan have far excelled the others. Rasulullaah (SAW) said, “You should reply to the Adhaan by stating the words that they state and whatever Du’aa you make afterwards will be accepted.” [Abu Dawood 524, from Hadhrat Abdullaah bin Amr (RA)] |

| (6) A Sin | The punishment for those who argue about Allaah |
| Allaah says in the Qur’aan, “Those who argue (with the Muslims) about their Rabb after He has been accepted (by them as their Rabb), their argument is useless before their Rabb. On them is (Allaah’s) wrath and they will suffer a severe punishment”. [Surah Shura, verse 16] |

| (7) This World | The life of this world is futility and play |
| Allaah says in the Qur’aan, “The life of this world is mere futility and play (temporary and without true benefit). Without doubt, the life of the Aakhirah is true life (an existence of true happiness). If only they knew (If people understood this, they would not give preference to this world over the Aakhirah)”. [Surah Ankaboot, verse 64] |

| (8) The Aakhirah | The condition of people on the Day of Qiyaamah |
| Rasulullaah (SAW) said, “On the Day of Qiyaamah, the sun shall be only a mile over the heads of people and its intensity will be magnified, causing the brains of people to boil in their skulls. According to their actions, people will be immersed in their perspiration on the Day of Qiyaamah. Some will be immersed up to their ankles, others up to their knees and there will be others whose perspiration will reach from their feet right up to their mouths and, like reins, it will go into their mouths.” [Ahmad 21682, from Hadhrat Abu Umaamah (RA)] |

| (9) Cures from the Qur’aan and Rasulullaah (SAW) | Mushrooms for the eyes |
| Rasulullaah (SAW) said that the water from mushrooms is a cure for the eyes. [Bukhaari 5708, from Hadhrat Sa’eed bin Zaid (RA)] Hadhrat Abu Hurayrah (RA) reports that he once squeezed the water from three, five, or seven mushrooms and kept it in a bottle. He then dropped the water into the eyes of his slave woman, causing her eyes to be cured. [Tirmidhi 2069] Mushrooms should be used with care because some types are poisonous. |

| (10) Advice from Rasulullaah |

| Rasulullaah r said, “The person who believes in Allaah and the Last Day must never cause any inconvenience to his neighbour.” [Bukhaari 6018, from Hadhrat Abu Hurayrah (RA)] |
