(1) Islaamic History Mi’raaj
The journey Rasulullaah (SAW) made through the heavens is referred to as the Mi’raaj, which is explicitly referred to in the Qur’aan. Rasulullaah (SAW) was 51 years and 9 months of age when he mounted the steed Buraaq from between the Maqaam Ibraheem and the well of Zamzam. Hadhrat Jibra’eel (AS) then accompanied him to Baytul Muqaddas, where Rasulullaah (SAW) led all the Ambiyaa (AS)in Salaah. From there, they departed for the seven heavens, where Rasulullaah (SAW) met various Ambiyaa (AS)in the many heavens. Hadhrat Jibra’eel (AS) remained in escort until they reached the Sidratul Muntahaa, from which point onwards Rasulullaah (SAW) proceeded by himself. He then entered a realm where even the angels were forbidden. Here Rasulullaah (SAW) saw Allaah and spoke in close communion with Allaah. It was on this occasion that Rasulullaah (SAW) was given the five daily Salaahs as a gift. After touring the heavens, Rasulullaah (SAW) then returned to Baytul Muqaddas, from where he again mounted the Buraaq and returned to Makkah. Referring to the wondrous sights Rasulullaah (SAW) beheld on this journey, Allaah says, “The sight (of Rasulullaah (SAW)) neither wavered (saw any less than it was supposed to see) nor transgressed (did not overstate what it saw). He definitely saw some of Allaah’s great Aayaat (on the journey of Mi’raaj)”.[Surah Najm, verses 17-18]
(2) Rasulullaah (SAW)’s Miracle The earth is shrunk for Rasulullaah (SAW)
Hadhrat Anas (RA) reports that Rasulullaah (SAW) was at Tabook when Hadhrat Jibra’eel (AS) suddenly appeared. Upon the query from Rasulullaah (SAW), Hadhrat Jibra’eel (AS) replied that Hadhrat Mu’aawiya bin Mu’aawiya Laythi (RA) had passed away in Madinah that day and Allaah had sent seventy thousand angels to perform his Janaazah Salaah. The reason for this honour was that Hadhrat Mu’aawiya (RA) would continuously recite Surah Ikhlaas in all conditions throughout the day and night. “If you please,” Hadhrat Jibra’eel (AS) said to Rasulullaah (SAW), “I could shrink the earth for you so that you would be able to perform his Janaazah Salaah.” Rasulullaah (SAW) agreed and Hadhrat Jibra’eel (AS) shrunk the earth between Tabook and Madinah so that Rasulullaah (SAW) was able to perform the Janaazah Salaah and return to Tabook. [Dalaa’il 1998]
(3) A Fardh Settling the debts of the deceases
Hadhrat Ali (RA) said, “While Rasulullaah (SAW) settled debts before the bequest, you people read (in the Qur’aan) mention of the bequest before debts.” [Tirmidhi 2122]
If a person died before settling his debts, these have to be settled from his estate immediately after settling the funeral expenses, even though they may consume all the wealth.
(4) A Sunnah Du’aa for safety from humiliation on the Day of Qiyaamah
The following Du’aa should be recited to be saved from humiliation on the Day of Qiyaamah:
وَلَا تُخْزِنِيْ يَوْمَ يُبْعَثُوْنَ
TRANSLATION: “And do not humiliate me on the day that Your resurrect people.” [Surah Shu’araa, verse 87]
(5) An Important Act and its Virtue Calling out the Adhaan
Rasulullaah (SAW) said that it becomes compulsory for a person to enter Jannah when he calls out the Adhaan for 12 years. For every day he calls out the Adhaan, he receives the reward of 60 good deeds and for every Takbeer he recites, he receives the reward of three good deeds. [Ibn Maajah 728, from Hadhrat Abdullaah bin Umar (RA)]
(6) A Sin Preventing others from listening to the Qur’aan
Allaah says in the Qur’aan, “Those who commit kufr say (to each other), “Do not listen to this Qur’aan, and (if it is still recited, then) make a noise (to disturb its recitation) so that you may be victorious (in putting an end to its recitation).” So (especially because of such acts that are aimed at preventing others from Islaam) We shall definitely let the Kuffaar taste a severe punishment, and We shall certainly punish them for the worst of actions (the sins) that they do”. [Surah HaaMeem Sajdah verses 26-27]
(7) This World The Aakhirah is better than this world
Allaah says in the Qur’aan, “(When) Those who adopt Taqwa (who abstain from kufr and Shirk) are asked, “What has your Rabb revealed (to Muhammad e) ?” They reply (very differently from the Mushrikeen and say), “(Our Rabb has revealed) Extreme good.” There shall be (all types of) goodness (in this world already) for those who did good in this world and the home of the Aakhirah (Jannah) is certainly better (than everything of this world). How grand is the home of those who have Taqwa (Jannah)!”
[Surah Nahl, verse 30]
(8) The Aakhirah The position of the Kuffaar in the Aakhirah
Rasulullaah (SAW) said, “The Kaafir will be so immersed in his perspiration on the Day of Qiyaamah that he will scream, ‘O Rabb! Throw me into Jahannam and relieve me from this.’”
[Kanzul Ummaal 38923, from Hadhrat Abdullaah bin Mas’ood (RA)]
(9) Cures from the Qur’aan and Rasulullaah (SAW) Treatment for fever
Rasulullaah (SAW) said that when a person experiences fever, he should treat it by reciting the following Du’aa when he takes a bath for three days:
بِسْمِ اللهِ اَللّٰهُمَّ إِنَّمَا اغْتَسَلْتُ رِجَاءَ شِفَاءِكَ وَتَصْدِيقَ نَّبَيِّكَ مُحَمَّدٍ ﷺ
TRANSLATION: I begin this bath in the name of Allaah. O Allaah! I am taking a bath with the hope that you cure me and with the conviction in the words of Your Nabi Muhammad (SAW).
[Ibn Abi Shaybah Vol 7, Pg. 145, from Hadhrat Makhool رحمه الله]
(10) Advice from Rasulullaah (SAW)
Rasulullaah (SAW) said, “Continue worshipping Allaah, feeding people and spreading the greeting of Salaam. You will then enter Jannah in peace.”
[Tirmidhi 1855, from Hadhrat Abdullaah bin Amr (RA)]
