(1) Islaamic History |
The return from Taa’if |
When Rasulullaah (SAW) lost hope in any of the people of Taa’if responding to his message of Islaam, he started to leave the town. However, the people hurled abuse at him and threw stones at him. They continued doing this until Rasulullaah (SAW)’s shoes were filled with the blood that flowed from his body. Once Rasulullaah (SAW) was out of the town, he entered an orchard, where he made Du’aa to Allaah, communicating to Allaah his weakness and lack of importance among people. He also said, “If You are not angry with me, I care for nothing. All I require is that Your protection should be vast enough for me.” Allaah then sent to Rasulullaah (SAW) the angel in charge of the mountains, who offered to cause the two mountains to collide and crush all between them if Rasulullaah (SAW) commanded it. However, the merciful Nabi (SAW) replied by saying, “I hope from Allaah that if these people do not become Muslims, Allaah should create amongst their progeny such people who will worship Him without ascribing any as partner to Him.” Amongst the effects of this Du’aa was that the great Mujaahid Hadhrat Muhammad bin Qaasim رحمه الله was born of the Banu Taqeef tribe of Taa’if and it was at his hand that Islaam reached the Indian subcontinent. |
(2) Allaah’s Power |
Nasal hairs |
Allaah has created everything small and large with tremendous wisdom and benefit. Because man cannot live without oxygen, Allaah has allowed him to inhale fresh air through his nose and exhale the stale air. However, Allaah has put a filtration system in place within the nose so that the air entering the body does not enter with the particles of dust and dirt found airborne. This effectively curbs the intake of germs and bacteria, which may lead to many respiratory and other diseases. |
(3) A Fardh |
Screening oneself from one’s brothers-in-law |
Rasulullaah (SAW) said, “Guard yourselves against mixing with women (who are not Mahram).” “What about the brother-in-law (husband’s brother)?” an Ansaari Sahabi (RA) asked. “The brother-in-law is death,” Rasulullaah (SAW) replied. [Bukhaari 5232, from Hadhrat Uqba bin Aamir (RA)] This Hadith makes it evident that it is necessary for a woman to conceal herself from her husband’s brother because failure to do so spells destruction. |
(4) A Sunnah |
Performing Wudhu after relieving oneself |
Hadhrat Aa’isha (RA) reports that Rasulullaah (SAW) performed Wudhu after he had relieved himself. [Ahmad 25033] |
(5) An Important Act and its Virtue |
Occupying the first row of Salaah |
Rasulullaah (SAW) said, “Allaah showers His mercy and His angels pray for the forgiveness of those people who occupy the first row of Salaah. A Mu’adhin is forgiven in proportion to his voice and everything wet and dry confirms his words. He then receives the rewards of all those who perform Salaah with him.” [Nasa’ee 647, from Hadhrat Baraa (RA)] |
(6) A Sin |
Forsaking Salaah |
Rasulullaah (SAW) said, “When a person intentionally forsakes Salaah, Allaah will put all his deeds to waste and will have nothing to do with him until he repents.” [Targheeb wat Tarheeb 783, from Hadhrat Umar (RA)] |
(7) This World |
Beware of this world |
Rasulullaah (SAW) said, “Listen well! This world is sweet and bustling and Allaah has certainly appointed you as his vicegerents here to see what deeds you carry out. You must therefore guard against this world and women.” [Muslim 6948, from Hadhrat Abu Sa’eed Khudri (RA)] |
(8) The Aakhirah |
The bounties of Jannah |
Allaah says in the Qur’aan, “And (they will be served) a variety of fruits to choose from and the meat of the birds they desire. And (in addition to all of this, they shall have) fair large eyed damsels (as their wives) who are like preserved (protected) pearls (because of their beauty, complexion and purity). (They will receive all of this) As a reward for the deeds they carried out (in the world). They will not hear any (unpleasant) noise there (in Jannah) nor any foolish (sinful and absurd) talk. Instead they will hear the (resonant) call (greeting) of “Salaam”, “Salaam”. (They will greet each other with the words of Salaam; will be greeted by the angels with these words; and Allaah will also greet them with these words)”. [Surah Waaqi’ah, verses 20-26] |
(9) Cures from the Qur’aan and Rasulullaah (SAW) |
A cure for insanity |
Rasulullaah (SAW) said, “The Ajwa date is from amongst the fruits of Jannah and is a cure for insanity.” [Ibn Maajah 3453, from Hadhrat Abu Sa’eed Khudri (RA) and Hadhrat Jaabir (RA)] |
(10) Qur’aanic Advice |
|
Allaah says in the Qur’aan, “O you who have Imaan! Indeed, liquor (wine, beer and other intoxicants), gambling, idols, and (distribution by) arrows (see verse 3 of this Surah) are filth (vile acts) from the acts of Shaytaan, so abstain from them so that you may be successful (in both worlds)”. [Surah Maa’idah, verse 90] |
