5 Minute Madressa for the 16th of Rabi Ul Aakhir

(1) Islaamic History Conveying the message of Islaam to the leaders of Taa’if
It was 10 years after announcing his Nabuwaat (Prophethood) and after his uncle Abu Taalib had passed away that the Kuffaar of Makkah started to harass Rasulullaah (SAW) relentlessly. Rasulullaah (SAW) eventually lost hope in them and decided to give Da’wah to the people of Taa’if with the thought that if they accepted Islaam, Taa’if could become a base for the propagation of Islaam. The largest tribe in Taa’if was the Banu Thaqeef and their chiefs were three brothers named Abd Ya’leel, Mas’ood, and Habeeb. Rasulullaah (SAW) invited each one of them to Islaam, but none accepted his message. The first one said, “What! Did Allaah send you as a messenger?” The other scoffed and said, “Could Allaah not find anyone else besides you to send as a messenger?” The third person said, “I do not want to speak to you because if you really are a messenger as you claim, then rejecting your message will bring trouble. However, if you are a fake, then I would not want to speak to you.” Rasulullaah (SAW) then spent a few days trying to invite the common people to Islaam, but also had no success with them.
(2) Rasulullaah (SAW)’s Miracle The plea of a deer
Hadhrat Zaid bin Arqam (RA) reports that he was walking with Rasulullaah (SAW) in one of the streets of Madinah when they chanced upon a deer that was tied to someone’s tent. The deer informed Rasulullaah (SAW) that the man had caught her, but was now neither intending to slaughter her nor would he let her loose. At the same time, she had two little babies whom she needed to suckle. Rasulullaah (SAW) asked her, “If I let you lose, would you promise to return after suckling your babies?” She promised to do so. Rasulullaah (SAW) then untied her and she dashed off to her babies. After duly suckling them, she promptly returned and Rasulullaah (SAW) tied her up again. The man of the tent then emerged and Rasulullaah (SAW) asked him if he would sell the deer to him. “O Rasulullaah (SAW)!” the man submitted, “I shall gladly give her to you as a gift.” When he handed her over to Rasulullaah (SAW), the Nabi of mercy (SAW) immediately set her free. Hadhrat Zaid (RA) says, “I swear by Allaah that I could hear the deer reciting the Shahaadah aloud in the bush as she departed.”
[Dalaa’il 2284]
(3) A Fardh Treating parents well
Allaah says in the Qur’aan, “We enjoined (commanded) man to treat his parents kindly. His mother bore him with hardship (pain and discomfort) and delivered him with hardship and his bearing and weaning are (completed) in (a maximum period of) thirty months”.
[Surah Ahqaaf, verse 15]
It is necessary for children to obey their parents in all matters unless it involves disobeying Allaah.
(4) A Sunnah A Du’aa to recite for the person leaving in the path of Allaah
As Rasulullaah (SAW) saw off an expedition leaving in the path of Allaah, he advised them to begin the journey with the name of Allaah. He then recited the following Du’aa:

أَللّٰهُمَّ أَعِنْهُمْ

TRANSLATION: Do assist them, O Allaah.           [Tabraani in his Kabeer 11389]

(5) An Important Act and its Virtue Making Wudhu properly in all circumstances
Rasulullaah (SAW) said that when a person does the following acts, he will be cleansed of all sins:

  • Performing Wudhu properly despite hardship and inconvenience
  • Taking many steps to the Masjid for Salaah
  • Waiting for the next Salaah                     [Haakim 456, from Hadhrat Ali (RA)]
(6) A Sin Denying miracles
Allaah says in the Qur’aan, “When their Rusul brought the clear signs (worldly) to them, they became arrogant on account of the (mundane) knowledge they had, and that which they mocked (Allaah’s punishment) enveloped them”.
[Surah Mu’min, verse 83]
(7) This World The oceans as a means of sustenance for people
Allaah says in the Qur’aan, “It is He Who subjugated the ocean (placed it at your service) so that you may eat fresh meat (fish) from it and extract jewels (pearls) that you wear (as jewellery). You see the ships cleaving their way on it (the ocean) so that (by travelling on sea) you may seek (business) from His bounty and so that you may show gratitude to Him (for this great bounty)”.
[Surah Nahl, verse 14]
(8) The Aakhirah All of creation fear the advent of Qiyaamah
Rasulullaah (SAW) said, “There is not an angel, sky, land, wind, mountain or ocean that does not fear Fridays (because it will be on a Friday that Qiyaamah will take place).”
[Ibn Maajah 1084, from Hadhrat Abu Lubaabah (RA)]
(9) Cures from the Qur’aan and Rasulullaah (SAW) The benefits of pears
Hadhrat Talha (RA) reports that he once met Rasulullaah (SAW) as Rasulullaah (SAW) held a pear in his hand. “Take this, O Talha,” Rasulullaah (SAW) said, “Because it gives peace of heart.”
[Ibn Maajah 3369, from Hadhrat Talha (RA)]
(10) Advice from Rasulullaah (SAW)
Rasulullaah (SAW) said, “Make Du’aa to Allaah with complete conviction that it will be accepted and remember that Allaah does not grant the prayer of an inattentive heart.”
[Tirmidhi 3479, from Hadhrat Abu Hurayrah (RA)]
