TAKE TO SERVITUDE
Hazrat Mufti Muhammad Taqi Uthmāni Sahib حفظه الله has said that his beloved mentor Ārif Billāh Hazrat Dr Abdul Hayy Sahib رحمه الله used to say that what is needed is servitude, dedication, obedience, humility and submission. Acceptance in the court of Allah Ta’ala جل جلاله will be achieved when man displays his servitude and annihilates his ego.
Hazrat Aarifi رحمه الله used to advise that one cannot find the straight path leading to Allah Ta’ala جل جلاله by claiming to be wise and intelligent. The mercies and favours of Allah Ta’ala جل جلاله envelops the person who is obedient and displays humility.
When man makes a display of his pride; this is indicative of the evil trait of vanity (ujub). What is true achievement? What can be termed as true joy? When man departs from this world and Allah Ta’ala جل جلاله says:
يايتها النفس المطمئنة ارجعي الى ربك راضيه مرضيه فادخلي في عبادي وادخلي جنتي
‘O contented soul! Return to your Lord satisfied and contented. Enter among My servants and enter (as a result) My Paradise.
(Surah 89: Verses 27 – 30)
Hazrat Mufti Muhammad Taqi Uthmāni Sahib حفظه الله has stressed that the soul is being addressed to enter into the group of Allah Ta’ala’s servants. This shows that servitude (or obedience) is the highest station of man.
