REFORMATION OF THE NATION

Hakeemul Ummah Hazrat Moulana Ashraf Ali Thaanwi Sahib رحمه الله has mentioned that Hazrat Moulana Ubaidullah Sindi Sahib رحمه الله narrated that Allāmah Shibli Nu’maani Sahib رحمه الله had said that experience has established that it is only a man of a lofty standard of Taqwa who can impart to the nation the benefit of moral reformation. Minus this, regardless of how great a scholar may be, he will not be able to reform people. The impact of being loyal and committed to the Shariah is essential for the spread of Deen.

Extreme caution has to be exercised in association with people who are open transgressors. But at the same time, the Saalik (seeker) should have purity of thought and a mindset that the transgressor is superior in rank because perhaps there is an act which is so divinely accepted which elevates him over myself. Furthermore, the Saalik should fear that perhaps there is such an evil in him which causes his depravation. By adopting this attitude, one will be able to maintain humility and modesty whilst at the same time staying away from evil company.
