5 Minutes Madressa for the 21st of Muharram

(1) Islaamic History When Allaah’s punishment afflicted the nation of Aad
Hadhrat Hood (AS) called on the people to believe in the One and Only Allaah and to worship Him alone. He also called on them not to oppress the weak, not to boast about their strength and to be grateful to Allaah, but his pleas fell on deaf ears. Instead, they started to commit even more evil as the days went by. Allaah then afflicted them with such a terrible drought that they craved for every drop of water. However, they still refused to desist from their evil ways. Allaah then set upon them a punishment that perhaps no other nation has suffered. And extremely powerful wind ravaged them for seven days and eight nights, each gust being stronger than the previous one. Eventually, their dead corpses were strewn across the land like felled palm trunks and their magnificent homes became wrecks and ruins for people after them to take a lesson from.
(2) Rasulullaah (SAW)’s Miracle Curing insanity
When someone complained to Rasulullaah (SAW) that his brother was ill and suffering from insanity, Rasulullaah (SAW) called for his brother. When the man was brought, Rasulullaah (SAW) recited some verses of the Qur’aan and blew on him. The man was immediately cured and no sign of insanity remained with him.
[Ibn Maajah 523]
(3) A Fardh The husband’s share in his wife’s estate
Allaah says, “You (husbands) shall inherit half of what your wives leave if they do not have children. (However) If they (your wives) have children, then you shall inherit a quarter of what they leave after the bequests they made and (after settling their) debts”.

[Surah Nisaa, verse 12]
(4) A Sunnah Greeting with Salaam when entering
Whenever he wished to enter a home, Rasulullaah (SAW) never stood directly in front of the door, but to the right or the left. He then greeted by calling out, “As Salaamu Alaykum”.
[Abu Dawood 5186, from Hadhrat Abdullaah bin Yusr (RA)]
(5) A Nafl The best deeds in Islaam
Someone once asked Rasulullaah (SAW) what the best of deeds were in Islaam. Rasulullaah (SAW) replied, “Feeding people and greeting (Muslims) with the words of Salaam regardless of whether you know the person or not.”
[Bukhaari 6236, from Hadhrat Abdullaah bin Amr (RA)]
(6) A Sin Concealing knowledge
Rasulullaah (SAW) stated that when a person fails to reveal knowledge he had when asked, he will be bridled with a bridle of fire on the Day of Qiyaamah.
[Tirmidhi 2649, from Hadhrat Abu Hurayrah (RA)]
(7) This World Preparing for the Aakhirah in this world
Allaah says in the Qur’aan, “You desire the things (wealth) of this world (and make an effort to acquire it) while Allaah desires (that you rather make an effort to acquire) the Aakhirah. Allaah is Mighty, the Wise (what He desires for you is best)”.
[Surah Anfaal, verse 67]
(8) The Aakhirah Punishment of the people of Jahannam
Allaah says in the Qur’aan, “On that day you will see the criminals (Kuffaar) shackled together in chains. Their garments will be of tar (which smells terribly and burns easily) and the Fire will cover their faces. (They will present themselves before Allaah) So that Allaah may repay every soul for what (good or evil) it had earned. Indeed Allaah is swift in reckoning”.
[Surah Ibraheem, verse 49-51]
(9) Cures from the Qur’aan and Rasulullaah (SAW) The cure for blisters and sores
One of the wives of Rasulullaah (SAW) reports that she was once suffering from a blister on her finger when Rasulullaah (SAW) came to see her. “Do you have any Dhareera?” Rasulullaah (SAW) asked. When she replied that she did have some, Rasulullaah (SAW) advised her to apply some of it to the blister and to them recite the Du’aa:

اَللّٰہُمَّ مُصَغِّرَالْکَبِیْرَ وَمُکَبِّرَالصَّغِیْرَ،أَطْفِعْہَاعَنِّیْ

Allaahuma Musghar Kabeer was Mukabbir as Sagheer Adtfiha anni

TRANSLATION: O Allaah The One Who makes small matters big and big matter small! Do remove this from me.”
[Mustadrak 7463]
Muhadditheen have stated that Dhareera is a fragrant plant originating from India, referred to as Buchh in Urdu. It is especially effective in treating blisters that develop after burns
(10) Qur’aanic Advice
Allaah says in the Qur’aan, “It has already been revealed to you in the Book that when you hear the Aayaat of Allaah being rejected (by the Kuffaar) and ridiculed, you should not sit with them until they engage in other talks. Without doubt, in that case (if you remain with them when they ridicule Allaah’s Aayaat), you will be just like them. Surely Allaah will gather the Munaafiqeen and the Kaafiroon all together in Jahannam”.
[Surah Nisaa, verse 140]
