5 Minute Madressa for the 27th of Muharram

(1) Islaamic History Hadhrat Ibraheem (AS)’s migration
Hadhrat Ibraheem (AS) was extremely concerned about his people, but despite all his efforts, it was only his wife Hadhrat Sarah (RA) and his nephew Hadhrat Loot (AS) who accepted Imaan. After he had emerged from the fire that Nimrood and the people had flung him into, Hadhrat Ibraheem (AS) decided to migrate from Babylon. He left in the company of his wife and nephew and spent a few days in a town on the banks of the Euphrates River called Orkuldaniyyah. From there he left for the town of Harraan, now situated in Eastern Turkey. Throughout the journey, he continued his duty of propagating the message of Towheed.
(2) Rasulullaah (SAW)’s Miracle A slow horse becomes speedy steed
Hadhrat Abu Talha (RA) has a horse that was very slow and lazy. When Rasulullaah (SAW) used the horse once to patrol Madinah when there were some noises about the city, the horse suddenly became very fast by the blessings of Rasulullaah (SAW). When he returned from the patrol, Rasulullaah (SAW) commented, “This horse is (as swift as) a river.” Thereafter, there was no horse that could match it for speed.

(3) A Fardh It if Fardh for the place of Salaah to be pure
It is Fardh (obligatory) for the place where Salaah is performed to be free from any impurities. Allaah says in the Qur’aan, “We commanded Ibraheem (AS) and Ismaa’eel (AS) (saying), ‘Clean (remove idols from) My house (the Kabah) for those who perform Tawaaf, those who stay in it, those who bow (in Ruku) and those who prostrate (referring to those who perform Salaah there)’”. [Surah Baqara, verse 125]
(4) A Sunnah Drinking milk
Rasulullaah (SAW) said, “On this night of Mi’raaj, I was offered two goblets, one containing milk and the other containing wine. I drank from the one containing milk.”

(5) A Nafl The reward of reciting Surah Yaaseen
Rasulullaah (SAW) said, “Everything has a heart and the heart of the Qur’aan is Surah Yaaseen. Whoever recites Surah Yaaseen will receive the reward of reciting the entire Qur’aan ten times.”

(6) A Sin The punishment for not forbidding evil
Rasulullaah (SAW) stated that when people see others act in conflict with the injunctions of the Shari’ah and do nothing to forbid them, the danger is that they will all soon be afflicted by punishment.

(7) This World Do not grieve over the things of this world
Allaah says in the Qur’aan, “Never focus your eyes on the enjoyment that We have granted to the various groups of the Kuffaar, do not grieve over them”.
[Surah Hijr, verse 88]
(8) The Aakhirah The Munaafiqeen shall be on the lowest level of Jahannam
Allaah says in the Qur’aan, “Most assuredly, the hypocrites shall be in the lowest depth of the Fire (of Jahannam) and you will never find a helper for them (to save them from punishment)”.
[Surah Nisaa, verse 145]
The Munaafiqeen are people who pretend to be Muslims but are really opposed to Islaam.
(9) Cures from the Qur’aan and Rasulullaah (SAW) Fresh dates as a treatment for the liver
Hadhrat Abdullaah bin Ja’far (RA) reports that he saw Rasulullaah (SAW) eating fresh wet dates with cucumber. [Bukhaari 5440]
Allaama Ibn Qayyim F writes that fresh wet dates are extremely nutritious for the liver and the body and gives it great strength.
(10) Qur’aanic Advice
Allaah says in the Qur’aan, “ Hold fast to what (commands) the Rasool (SAW) gives you and refrain from what (actions) He prevents you (because whatever he instructs you is from Allaah)”.
