5 Minute Madressa for the 13th of Safar

(1) Islaamic History Allaah punished Fir’oun
When the Da’wah and miracles of Hadhrat Moosa u had no effect on Fir’oun and he continued intensifying his oppression of the Bani Israa’eel, a series of punishments started to come to him and his people. First there was a drought, followed by a plague of locusts, an infestation of lice, an invasion of frogs and then the punishment of blood. However, the hearts of Fir’oun and his people had become so hard that nothing had an effect on them any more and they continued their aggression against the Bani Israa’eel. Hadhrat Moosa u eventually instructed the Bani Israa’eel to leave for Baytul Muqaddas under the cover of night. They, however, lost their way in the darkness and were confronted by the Red Sea when Fir’oun and his army caught up with them. Allaah instructed Hadhrat Moosa u to strike the sea with his staff and when he did so, roads opened up for them across the sea and they crossed over. When Fir’oun and his army followed them across, the sea closed up and they were all drowned.
(2) Allaah’s Power Mother’s milk
Allaah says in the Qur’aan, “Mothers should breastfeed their children for two whole years”.
[Surah Baqara, verse 233]
Mother’s milk is a most nutritious feed with benefits that are too numerous to mention. It cannot be adequately substituted by any formula or milk of any animal. If a mother breastfeeds her child for two full years, the child will develop an effective resistance against diseases and the mother will also not have to worry about suffering from breast cancer. Medical science has discovered this only now whereas Islaam has encouraged it for over 1400 years. There is certainly tremendous good in everything that Allaah has commanded us to do.
(3) A Fardh Being happy with the Deen of Islaam
Rasulullaah (SAW) said, “The sweetness of Imaan has been tasted by the person who is happy with Allaah as His Rabb, Muhammad (SAW) as his Nabi and Islaam as his Deen.”
[Muslim]
(4) A Sunnah Using the Miswaak
Rasulullaah (SAW) said, “The mouth is an avenue for the recitation of the Qur’aan, so keep it clean with the Miswaak.”
[Ibn Maajah]
(5) A Nafl Shaking Hands
Rasulullaah (SAW) said, “When two Muslims meet and shake hands, they will both be forgiven even before they part.”
[Tirmidhi]
(6) A Sin Giving Sadaqah with Haraam wealth
Rasulullaah (SAW) said that when a person amasses Haraam wealth and then uses it to give Sadaqah, then rather than receiving any rewards, he will receive the exact opposite.
[Mustadrak of Haakim]
(7) This World The things of this world are temporary
Allaah says in the Qur’aan, “Tell them, “The comfort (enjoyment) of this world is short. The Aakhirah is best for those who have Taqwa”.
[Surah Nisaa, verse 77]
(8) The Aakhirah The sky will split
Allaah says in the Qur’aan, “The sky will be split and become absolutely weak (unable to remain standing) that day with the angels (who live there) at its ends (because the sky will collapse at the centre,, the angels living there will move to the sides). That day eight angels shall carry the throne of your Rabb above them (and bring it to the Plains of Reckoning). On that day, you will all be presented and nothing (no action or word) of yours shall remain hidden.”
[Surah Haaqa, verses 16-18]
(9) Cures from the Qur’aan and Rasulullaah (SAW) Camphor
Allaah says in the Qur’aan, “(On the other hand) The righteous (Mu’mineen) shall certainly drink from a cup which contains a (drink made from a) mixture of camphor”
[Surah Dahar, verse 5]
Allaama Ibn QayyimF writes that a bleeding nose can be treated by inhaling the vapours from camphor. This also makes the mind alert and strengthens the memory. Camphor is also used in modern medicine to treat phlegm, tuberculosis, poisoning, mouth ulcers, mental weakness, headaches, and burning within the kidneys and liver.
[Mu’aalajaatun Nabawi]
(10) Qur’aanic Advice
Allaah says in the Qur’aan, “Indeed those who reject our Aayaat and behave arrogantly towards them (refusing to believe them), the doors of the heavens will not be opened for them (their souls will not be allowed into the heavens after death) and they will not enter Jannah until a camel enters through the eye of a needle (it will be impossible for them to enter Jannah). Thus do We punish the criminals (who are guilty of kufr)”.
[Surah A’raaf, verse 40]
